Although today we talk about films, casings and packaging, our roots go back to 1905, when our great-grandfather Francisco Tejedor founded El Zagal Tradición in Mallorca, a historic producer of sobrasadas. There we learned something that still guides us today: “only if you understand the process you can add value”.
In 1968 the family grew and Proveedora Hispano Holandesa (PHH) was born in a small warehouse on Valencia Street in Barcelona. An activity focused on importing additives and ingredients through which we offered alternatives and supported factories with close, technical advice—speaking the same language as production, quality and R&D.
At the end of the 1970s we took a key step: we moved to Sant Boi to expand our facilities and sealed a strategic alliance with the Japanese company Vector-Gunze (now Viscofan). Thanks to this partnership we installed the first plastic casing printing line in Spain, bringing together two worlds we know well: that of sausages and that of packaging.
In 2003 the sliced-products market grew strongly, and the demands for preservation, food safety and presentation multiplied. We responded by opening our plastic films division to offer more complete solutions to our clients—from additives to packaging—always thinking about the final application.
From sausages to packaging
Throughout all these stages there is a common thread: customer service, honest advice and closeness to production lines. We do not just sell solutions; we get involved in the production process because we come from it and we know what happens inside the factory.
Today the third generation is leading PHH, maintaining the spirit of 1905 with our eyes set on the challenges of today’s industry. We continue to stand by those who produce, helping every product reach the market better protected and better valued.
